Organization
An independent, non-profit Pennsylvania corporation manages The American Academy. The academy meets at the Antioch Presbyterian Church, Antioch Avenue, Conshohocken, PA. The year is divided into two semesters, and runs from early September to June. There are strict rules of conduct and a dress code. Standardized testing is done on a regular schedule to prepare students for college entrance examinations.
The American Academy is a home-schooling cooperative. It is organized according to the regulations of 24 PS 13 - 1327.1, as a “home education program.” The Academy assists each family in the requirements of registering each of their children as Pennsylvania Homeschoolers, and provides the end-of-the- year portfolio of student work which is submitted to the student’s school district. The parent or guardian, as the home education supervisor, is responsible for their own child’s Pennsylvania academic requirements, according to this Home Education Act.
Students from The American Academy are currently attending some of the most competitive colleges and universities in the country.
The American Academy is a charitable association with a letter of determination from the IRS; it meets the requirements of section 501(c)(3), including having a racially non-discriminatory policy as to students. The academy admits students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students and the school does not discriminate on the basis of race in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs.
